Art celebrating our Australian landscapes

Art showcasing our beautiful land is close to my heart.

Australia is home to some of the most awe inspiring natural and built landscapes. And unlike many parts of the world, we still have extensive areas of unspoiled natural beauty.

Endangered Littoral Rainforest fringing the East Coast of Australia

A painting of intertwined, ocean battered Tuckeroo branches on the fringe of the Littoral Rainforest with glimpses of sea and sky in the background.

But our Australian environment is fragile. Easily disrupted and difficult to remediate.

And things are not getting any easier as we make decisions to farm and build in areas really not suited.

Many decisions are coming back to bite us with overuse and changes in climate resulting in the increased risk from flood and fire experienced so graphically over the past decade.

These dramatic events don’t show up the other casualties hidden because they don’t seem to be dramatic enough to worry us. Farms lost to drought, small rural towns lost because people can’t live in the area anymore.

Add to this the loss in species most of us are not even aware of. The news that our Koala populations are heading towards becoming endangered because their habitat is shrinking from clearing and subject to extreme fire events must ring some bells.

I paint to capture some of our special environment.
